Newton, Ma.: On behalf of all of us at Valeo FC we want to send a huge congratulations to Lydia Pirner for being mentioned in the Boston Globe as a “Freshmen Making an Impact.”

Lydia was recognized in the Boston Globe for the impact she is making as a freshman on her varsity squad at Needham high school.

As a freshman, Lydia is a starting forward as well as the back up goal keeper for the Needham Rockets. In her first year on the varsity pitch, Lydia currently has 4 goals and 1 assist as a freshman.

The Rockets currently roster 5 freshmen on their squad, out of those 5 freshmen 2 are Valeo FC players, (Lydia Pirner, Maylin Carr). Both Lydia and May are teammates on Valeo FC Flash.

“Lydia has been part of Valeo FC since she was a u11 player. I have had the opportunity to work with Lydia since she was 8 years old and watch her develop every day, year after year as both a high-level soccer player and a confident individual. She is a tremendously hard-working athlete and someone who is not afraid of any challenge that she may face. It has been exciting to see those once 10-year-old girls who have trained so hard, develop into very impactful players on their high school teams. I could not be prouder of Lydia and all of our girls who are beginning to be recognized.”

 – Brian Leighton, Girls Director

Again, we want to send a big congratulations to Lydia for her current achievements and recognition. We look forward to seeing all of our stellar high school athletes do big things on the high school stage.
