NEWTON, Mass. (May 23, 2019) – Valeo Futbol Club (VFC) is proud to announce our acceptance into the U-12 Revolution Development League (RDL). The RDL is an initiative launched by the New England Revolution Academy that brings together seven of the most successful clubs in New England in a league designed to deliver the highest standard of competition in the region at the U-12 age group.
The RDL, sanctioned and supported by US Club Soccer, is structured to promote high-level, local competition for its members. The RDL will also serve to strengthen the connection with the Revolution Academy and provide our players with a platform to showcase their talent against the top competition in the area. The league will feature 8-10 games throughout New England during both the fall and spring seasons will also involve crossover games with other MLS development leagues and tournament weekends. Participants must be born on or after Jan. 1, 2008 to be eligible to play in the RDL.
Valeo is dedicated to providing the very best learning environment for soccer and personal development for committed players that are passionate about the game. Participation in the RDL will give our most ambitious, young players a chance to test their ability versus premier competition in the region and will complement VFC's membership in the US Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) at the U-13 and U-14 age groups. The scale and prestige of these competitions mean that our players will regularly be exposed to national team scouts and provide them with a platform to maximize their development.
"The fact that we can provide the top level of competition in the country to our players in-house is a testament to the hard work that has gone into building our club since its inception in 2008," said Valeo President, Emelio Williams. " We felt it was important for our club to maintain a competitive environment for u12 players similar to the previous USDA u12’s; therefore the decision to work with the other Academy directors including the New England Revolution was a very easy decision,” said Valeo Director of Soccer Operations, Corlton Simmond.
For players who have ambitions to feature for Valeo in the Development Academy, the RDL will serve as a benchmark to see where they stand in relation to local talent in the region.
