Newton, Ma.: Valeo FC Beat ’06 and Valeo FC Flash ’04 advance on to the Massachusetts State Cup semifinal rounds.
This past weekend kicked off the Massachusetts State Cup Tournament where top tiered teams within their respective league and/or brackets competed within the round of 16 and quarter final rounds.
The Valeo FC Beat ’06 squad had a strong showing in both the round of 16 and quarter final rounds this past weekend at Progin park. On Saturday, the Beat faced up against Newton Academy, where they showed absolute dominance from the start. The Beat both out possessed, out shot and out scored their opponent with an excellent showing on pitch. The Beat capped off their first ever State Cup game with a 5-0 win over Newton Academy.
The Beat had little time to rest as they took the pitch on Sunday for their quarter final match where they battled “Old School FC”. For the first 15 minutes, OS FC put quite a bit of pressure on the Beat squad where the Beat spent more time than they wanted in their defending half. However, once the Beat were able to play their style, the opportunities presented themselves quite quickly. The Beat put 3 goals in the back of the net to cap off their quarter final game with a 3-0 victory!
On Sunday, May 12, the Valeo FC Flash 04’ squad also competed in their quarter final round against Nova Premier FC in the Massachusetts State Cup. The Flash squad came out of the tunnel fast by pinging a shot off the crossbar :30 seconds into the game and creating opportunity after opportunity against the Nova defense. Though the Flash outshot Nova in the first half 13 – 1, the score remained 0 – 0 at half time. With even more opportunities in the second half, the Flash were able to put one in the net just 10 minutes into the second half, from there, they found the back of the next two additional times. The Flash took the quarter final round beating Nova FC 3-0 with an absolute dominance.
Both the Valeo FC Beat and the Valeo FC Flash will compete in the semi-final rounds of the Massachusetts State Cup which will be held on Saturday June 1st at Progin Park. The Beat will take on a familiar competitor, GPS Elite White at 10:15 am. The Flash will also be taking on a regular season competitor, Liverpool IA Ma Elite Southeast at 12:30 pm.
Congratulation ladies for moving onto the semi-final rounds of the Massachusetts State Cup. All of us at Valeo FC will be behind you and supporting you on June 1st!!
