Valeo FC Girls Massachusetts Futsal Champs

Newton, Ma. :  Valeo FC Girls takes home the Massachusetts Futsal Championship trophy in the 2004 bracket this past Monday at the Nashoba Brooks School.

 

Entering the semifinal round on 3/10/19 as the 4th seed, Valeo FC upset the 1st seed, FC Flair, in a class act of technical ball work, ball movement and exceptional defense. Knocking FC Flair out of the playoff run with a 6-4 finish is what propelled Valeo FC to the Massachusetts Futsal Championship.

 

Valeo FC went up against a strong opponent in the Massachusetts Futsal Championship, the Purple Cobras. Who in the regular season had given Valeo a run for their money, Valeo had just outlasted the Purple Cobras with a 9-7 hard fought victory in regular season competition.

 

This time around in the championship match, Valeo did not hesitate to jump on their opponents quickly. With a well-organized defensive effort and quick counter attacks on the transition, Valeo jumped ahead on their opponents 3-0 by half time.

 

As the minutes ticked away, the game began to get a bit chippy as both teams illustrated a high level of competiveness and aggressive play. Valeo gave up a penalty kick and a free kick just outside the arch line, which the Purple Cobras took advantage of and brought the score back within a goal of tying with just 6 minutes remaining. However, Valeo FC had other ideas in mind and tightened up their tactical play of immediate pressure and quick counter attacks. Within the last 4 remaining minutes of the game, Valeo FC put away two insurance goals finalize the victory. Valeo FC capped off the highly competitive championship bought with a final of 5-2 over the Purple Cobras.
